Locally Based Crowdfunding Platform Seeks Proposals
Top Proposal Will Receive Free Crowdfunding Campaign Video
Entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations based in Keene, Chesterfield, Hinsdale, Swanzey and Winchester, NH are invited to submit project proposals to The Local Crowd (TLC) Monadnock, a new crowdfunding platform serving the Monadnock Region. Successful proposals will launch their campaigns this fall, based on their ability to positively impact local economies and communities.
Unique to this particular crowdfunding platform is the free hands-on technical assistance accepted proposals will receive to help create and launch their campaigns. In addition, TLC Monadnock will award one proposal a free video, donated by 710 Main Films, to support their crowdfunding campaign. Studies show that crowdfunding campaigns with videos raise four times more funds than campaigns without videos.
This request for proposals is available online at monadnocklocal.org/rfp. All proposals are due before 5:00 p.m. on July 7, 2017.
Archway Farm in Keene successfully raised $5,000 for its “Farm to Table Wheels on Wheels” crowdfunding campaign through The Local Crowd Monadnock this spring. Owner Mark Florenz invested the funds into a mobile sausage cart to expand his direct sales to customers. The success of this campaign will help Archway Farm increase revenues and support the sales of more locally grown and made agricultural products.
Crowdfunding is the process in which an entrepreneur, business or organization asks a large number of people (usually through the Internet) to contribute a certain amount of money for a specific project. By leveraging the power of crowdfunding, TLC Monadnock’s fundraising platform will help start-up ventures, early-growth stage companies and community-based projects find access to capital while creating a new way for community members to support the projects they care about.
TLC Monadnock is a collaboration of regional economic development organizations working together to cultivate a stronger ecosystem of investors, service providers and local economy champions in the Monadnock Region. For more information, visit monadnocklocal.org/tlclaunch or contact Monadnock Buy Local at 603-499-7950.
TLC Monadnock is one of fifteen nationwide pilot sites demonstrating the effectiveness of this crowdfunding platform as an economic development tool in rural areas. This research project is managed by The Local Crowd, a Wyoming-based company, and funded by a United States Department of Agriculture Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant.
